this is how my garden grows

Look what I found today! A baby cantaloupe. Grow little melon, grow!

please please please

Please rain. Please fucking rain. I haven't seen water fall from the sky in what feels like years and if I have to spend another day looking at the oppressively blue-blue, too-blue sky with its near complete absence of clouds, fighting off the ridiculous sunshine that no one in Texas seems to have the good sense to put to use in the form of solar power (hello energy opportunity, people), I will, in fact, wither and die faster than my garden, which gets water everyday because I am forced to go out there and give it a bloody drink myself.

30% chance and isolated T-storms? I'll take it. But don't tease me. Oh please don't tease me. Just pour that sweet sweet liquid straight down and don't stop until you've soaked something. Preferably my yard.

Thank you.

80s fantasy movie night, take 2

Last year sometime I hosted a movie night that I'd like to do again. You know the drill: the old favorites Labyrinth, Dark Cyrstal, Neverending Story, Return to Oz, plus suggestions are welcome.

I'm thinking Friday, August 4th. Who's with me?

post birthday blues, fresh air, and a change of attitude

Naw, I don't really have the post birthday blues. I had a great weekend, including an 80s night, a chat session over beers, and a totally rocking party that ended up with a bunch of cool people just hanging out til the wee hours of the morning.

And the best part of it was, the weather let up. In a sense. I mean, it was still hot as shit, but cooler, a little bit. And the nights- in the 60s. I love it. I hope it stays this way for a little while longer, at least until after Megan is here.

So, I'm coming to terms with my joblessness and my ennui. More people have told me, too, to just let go and enjoy it. No job? Take it easy, don't stress. Just wait it out and in the meantime go to the library, ride your bike, have dance parties in your own home. For extra cash donate plasma and sell some things on eBay. It's all good.

I think I will like being 25.

blogger wins again!

Last year sometime I made a post on the sort of defunct Top Five Blog about some people I would like to get in touch with again. The five were:

5. Ryan
4. Toby
3. Sarah
2. Felicia
1. Douglas

Four of those people have now officially contacted me because of that blog post! Guess which one hasn't. Yeah, that's probably for the best. :)

So, Felicia now comments here, Doug sent me an email a while back, I talked to Sarah on the phone the other day, and now, Toby has emailed! Which is eerie as I was just in his hometown talking to his band director about him. Whadda ya know.

The power of the intrawebs wins again!

return'd

Back from Wisconsin as of Sunday night.

More to follow, perhaps. It was a good trip, some (un)expected changes and tought decisions had to be made, but otherwise fun. Not nearly enough lake time for me. Ah well.

And life continues. I am jobless and broke, so if you have an employment opportunity, send it my way!
